The Story
Behind The Strategy
Built from real ventures, real risk, and real commercial experience.
Biography
Polly Aitken is a commercial strategist and entrepreneur whose career has spanned international equestrian sport, technology recruitment, hospitality and business ownership. Her work has consistently centred on one instinct - the ability to recognise commercial opportunity and turn it into momentum.
From international horse sales and global technology partnerships to hospitality ventures and property redevelopment, Polly has built businesses by spotting potential others overlook. Whether developing high-value equestrian sales relationships, building networks across global technology companies, or transforming a derelict village property into a thriving destination hospitality business, her work has centred on identifying under-utilised assets and turning overlooked potential into commercial results.
Mission
My work today focuses on helping founders unlock the revenue already sitting inside their businesses.
Many companies believe growth requires building something new - new products, new infrastructure, new teams. But often the opportunity already exists in unused capacity, overlooked assets, or audiences that have not yet been activated.
My mission is to help founders identify these opportunities and convert them into meaningful commercial growth.
How It Works
My work centres around identifying and closing what I call the Capacity Gap - this is the space between a business’s potential and the revenue it is currently generating.
A
Identifying the assets, infrastructure and opportunities that already exist inside a business.
Capacity
B
Conversion
Understanding how effectively those assets are currently translating into demand.
C
Activation
Developing practical strategies that unlock new revenue and commercial momentum.
Proven Results
My work is defined by the ability to recognise commercial opportunity where others see limitations. Across industries including hospitality, retail, technology and the international equestrian sector, I have built and scaled ventures by identifying underused assets, overlooked audiences and partnerships with untapped potential. From securing international brand collaborations and building new business development channels within global technology markets, to producing and selling high-value performance horses and developing successful retail and events businesses, my career has consistently centred on turning opportunity into momentum.
My entrepreneurial projects have often involved transforming underutilised environments into commercially successful ventures. Most notably, I redeveloped a neglected former post office into a thriving hospitality destination combining boutique accommodation, a design-led café and a programme of curated events that drew visitors from across the region. This project was exited in an off-market sale in mid 2025.
Experiences like these shaped the thinking behind The Capacity Gap framework - a strategic approach built on the principle that many businesses already possess the infrastructure, audience and assets needed for growth, but have not yet fully activated their potential.
